About the Role
Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to teach in the Legal Studies Program. This position, which is a nine-month appointment, is on-site and requires face-to-face instruction. Duties for this appointment include teaching core undergraduate courses (a 4/4 course load), a productive community-involvement agenda, advising students, and adding to the service mission of the campus. The department offers a Criminal Justice major with an optional Legal Studies Concentration, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and minors in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. Our Legal Studies Program is ABA-approved.
Minimum requirements:
Earned an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school and knowledge of the paralegal profession.
Teaching experience at a college or university level.
Licensed to practice law in the United States and a member in good standing with a state bar association, preferably the Alabama State Bar.
If not a current member of the Alabama State Bar, eligible for membership in the Alabama State Bar.
Experience practicing law in the United States.
Experience working with paralegals (please explain in cover letter).
Candidates must show evidence of potential for excellence in teaching as well as a commitment to community and professional service. Candidates are expected to teach a wide range of legal specialty courses as defined by the ABA, participate in program evaluation, compile documentation, and complete reports required by the ABA.
