AAfPE Election Slate, Proxy Form (Due October 18)

AAfPE Institutional Members will vote on important bylaws changes and to fill open positions on the Board of Directors during the annual business meeting of the membership at the 37th National Conference, located at Gurney’s Newport Resort and Marina, 1 Goat Island, Newport, RI 02840, on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 12:15 p.m. Click here to view the slate and candidate statements.

If you are an Institutional Member, and will not be attending the conference, you may designate a proxy to cast your ballot. If you plan to vote by proxy, you must, in accordance with association bylaws, notify AAfPE Headquarters in writing of your proxy selection using the AAfPE Proxy Form no later than October 18, 2018

Other Dates You Don't Want to Miss

AAfPE is awarding one complimentary conference registration by random drawing. To be eligible for the drawing, applicants must meet the following criteria:

·     Currently teaching in a paralegal or legal studies program

·     Membership dues paid for the current year 

·     Could not otherwise attend the conference without assistance 

·     There will be no other attendee at the conference from the applicant's respective paralegal or legal studies program 

The winner bears all other costs associated with attending the conference and will be expected to attend conference sessions, including the business meeting.

Eligible applicants should submit a completed and signed application no later than October 1, 2018, to AAfPE Headquarters at

The Access to Justice Committee invites all AAfPE members to select qualified students to apply for the 2018-2019 Annual Paralegal Community Service Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $500. To be nominated, students must:

·     Be enrolled in a paralegal degree or certificate program at an AAfPE member school with at least two (2) remaining semesters to complete program

·     Be in good academic standing (at least a 2.5 overall GPA)

·     Demonstrate strong law-related volunteer service in the community.

Please email the following to no later than October 10, 2018:

·     Student's name and preferred email address

·     A letter of recommendation from the paralegal program director

·     A cover letter listing community service above and beyond what might be required for class

·     A verifiable record of community service (i.e., letter from non-profit organization)

·     A typed essay from the student (100-200 words) detailing (1) why the student volunteers, (2) how volunteering has impacted the student personally as well as professionally, and (3) in what ways paralegals can help close the access-to-justice gap.
